KAPTO Document Flow

KAPTO is a Document Intelligence Platform offering a versatile and robust workflow to handle documents from various sources and perform an array of document processing tasks. The standard workflow is as follows:

Step 1: Document Ingestion

KAPTO is designed to receive documents from a variety of sources:

• Email: Each KAPTO model can be set up with a unique inbound email address on the domain kapto.io. Any email received at this address is routed directly as input for that specific model.
• API: Documents or entire emails can be loaded into KAPTO via API, providing seamless integration with other software systems.
• Outbound Connectors: KAPTO has outbound connectors capable of retrieving emails directly from customer email accounts. These connectors support POP/IMAP connections and Microsoft Graph API™.

Step 2: Initial Processing

Once a document is inside KAPTO, it undergoes an initial processing phase. This phase includes automated activities such as dewarping, autorotating, and information extraction. When needed, OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and handwritten OCR are leveraged. All these operations are managed automatically by KAPTO, requiring no human intervention.

Step 3: Model-Specific Processing

The next steps depend on whether the KAPTO model is in Training mode or Production mode:

• Training Mode: In this mode, the document is placed in the training queue, where it awaits human annotation. The AI does not intervene at this stage. This phase is typically used when the aim is to create a meaningful training set for a specific AI that will automate the required activities (e.g., Split Out or Extraction).

• It's important to note that even when an AI model is already present the model itself can be still in training phase. In this case the AI provide a "first opinion" in assisting the human operator in the task of creating a new training set or updating the existing information with new examples aiming to provide the base for a new generation of AI.

• Production Mode: In this mode, the AI analyzes the document. Based on predefined basic or extended rules, the document can either be finalized immediately or placed in the verification queue for human intervention.

By automating many of the steps in the document processing workflow, KAPTO saves time and reduces the potential for human error. At the same time, it offers the flexibility to incorporate human review and intervention when needed, ensuring the highest possible level of accuracy.
